 Blog Post Expectations:

  • The text title and author (fiction, non-fiction, news/magazine article, etc.)
  • Proper grammar and spelling
  • At least two paragraphs

Possible* Post Prompts:

  • Select a passage from your reading and write about why you find it interesting, compelling, clever, beautiful, terrible.
  • Analyze a character in the text. Why does this character stand out to you?
  • Relate your reading to another text (poem, short story, novel, article, song, film, your own life). What are the similarities? Differences?
  • Analyze the writing of your text. What can be said about the author's tone, diction, figurative language, syntax, etc.?
  • Propose a theme demonstrated in the text. What is it? What evidence supports this theme?
  • What do you like, find interesting about the text? Why?
  • Does your outside reading connect to a text we have read/are reading in class? What are the connections?
  • Would you recommend this text to someone else? What type of reader would enjoy it? Why?
* YOU choose what you'd like to write about. Do you have a better idea? Write about it!
